What should I be budgeting?
Studying is exciting and exhilarating but there’s also the cost of life to consider. Having lead this course over a number of years, we’ve discovered that students should budget between £350 – £450 per month above accommodation costs for general living costs like food, transport, utility and phone bills as well as any personal spends you may like to make.
The course is designed to allow space for students to find flexible part-time work locally to help finance their year. This should be considered prior to arrival as once the year starts it can be more difficult to focus on finding a job when you will be engaged in church and College life.
Where should I live?
Where possible we encourage students to arrange their own accommodation. However we appreciate that some students may travel a great distance and so we do provide some limited options. Individual needs can be discussed at the interview stage.
Sheffield has two large universities and as a result there is a great deal of student accommodation on the market from £70-80 per week. If you would like help in finding some student accommodation then please speak to the College Directors for details of options available. Each year there is always a number of prospective students looking at this option and where possible we will try to connect you with each other so that you can find accommodation as a group which is often easier.
