FIRST YEAR

First Year Certificate (Accredited)

*NEW for this year, our First Year students will all receive official accreditation from C3 College in Sydney.*

Designed as a one year course with an optional second year, the course aims to equip and empower you, helping you build strong foundational pillars in your life as well as allowing you to immediately apply what you’ve learnt. It will inspire you, challenge you, and allow you to develop a greater confidence in the person God is calling you to be.

The first year course offers theological and practical training for every student taking place three days a week. Whilst each student’s course is uniquely tailored to their choice of Internship stream, each week involves the following:

WEEKLY LECTURES: From a wide variety of church leaders and proven practitioners from all across the world.
MASTERCLASS EVENTS: Special guest lectures to provide you with that truly global experience and understanding.
INTERNSHIP TRAINING: Based on your Internship selection – see below for details of the three Internship options.
CHAPEL SERVICE: Weekly Chapel Service and devotions help you put the pursuit of God at the centre of all you do.
WEEKEND SERVICES: Playing an active part in a growing, active church community.

For all our Partner Church students or students who belong to another Hope City Church Location, the practical work experience element of your stream and serving for services and events will be done back home. You will just be required to travel to Sheffield each week for the lectures.

As with all our Internships, there are three further sub areas – we call them streams – you can specialise in.

Here’s how it all works

One afternoon, each week, you’ll be involved in stream-related training and workshops. The training and workshops will be provided by specialists in the related field and allow you to receive any practically led training you may require, followed by a work experience element of the Internship which provides the opportunity for you to rise in whatever responsibility you have been entrusted with.

These Internships are designed to allow you to express your unique God-gift, alongside developing a range of transferable skills that will be an asset anywhere, whilst serving the mission of the church.

Leadership and Ministry Internship

For our Leadership and Ministry Internship, the streams are:

EVENTS & PASTORAL

You will be part of the heartbeat of any growing church as you help build people and put on great weekend services and national events, connecting people to Jesus.

YOUNG ADULTS (THIS NEW REPUBLIC)

Young Adult ministry is thriving all across the world as young people learn to find their voice and bring their gift to serve the church. Get behind the scenes of all that is happening in this stream.

YOUTH MINISTRY

Take the opportunity to be part of creating exciting, cutting edge programmes that each week will reach hundreds of young people, engaging them alongside a healthy dose of fun and craziness, as well as introducing them to God.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

Children’s ministry takes more than you think and you’ll serve alongside our incredible Kids Pastors who week in, week out create amazing programmes to connect our kids to a life of faith.

Internship Tutor: Tebo Mpanza

Tebo, along with his wife Becky, are the Lead Pastors of Hope City Church in Birmingham. A Whitefields College graduate himself, he has always been passionate about seeing God’s house established. He will inspire and provoke you to be the best leader you can be. Tebo also has a degree in Business Studies.

Creative Arts Internship

For our Creative Arts Internship, the streams are:

WORSHIP

For anyone who wants to be an anointed and excellent musician, leading others to encounter the presence of God.

DESIGN

God is a visual artist. Design is aimed at those who want to use those images, scattering the fingerprint of God over social media, print design and magazine production.

MEDIA

Aimed at the future filmmakers, whose filter is visual and whose lens is the camera, and who want to capture that to display what God is doing in the lives of people and His church.

Hope City Church is renowned for its spirit of creativity (it’s part of our DNA). Whether it’s designing a thought-provoking and slightly cheeky advertising campaign or learning how to use film to tell the story of someone’s transformation as they have come to know Jesus, we live in an exciting age where people are open to hear.

In this stream you will be trained and equipped to take your creative spark and gifting, learning to couple that with power of the Creative Arts to help people encounter God. The Creative Arts are a powerful tool to move people, to engage hearts as well as minds and create a space in people’s worlds to hear the most important message they will ever hear.

Sats brings his creativity to full effect in building a vibrant and cosmopolitan congregation in the heart of the capital city. He will inspire you to be better!

City Hearts Internship

For our City Hearts Internship the streams are:

CARE & CASEWORKING

Work with clients offering practical support as well as discovering the process behind each unique case and the life it represents.

OPERATIONS & FACILITATION

Find out how City Hearts runs; learn how you can contribute.

COMMUNITY & ENGAGMENT

Learning how to raise the profile of the charity through a whole host of different strategies, including fundraising. Warning: some of these will result in fun!

An organisation like City Hearts is a busy, purposeful and vibrant ministry of Hope City Church. The statistics are breathtaking; 100 staff, a strong base of volunteers. Not to mention, in 2017 we have:

  • Safe housed 245 men and women, resting them from modern day slavery
  • Housed 155 children directly affected by trafficking
  • Assisted 654 people through our outreach and drop in programmes
  • Mentored 35 children as part of our Child Partnership programme in Ghana, Africa
  • And since opening our doors, we have aided 4200 people

And those numbers are only going to rise as we impact, reach, rescue and restore lives of others out there. This is one of the issues of our time and if you are passionate about ending this and learning how we play our part in that, then this Internship is for you. Even if you’re not studying as one of our college students, you can still apply for an Internship with City Hearts. Visit cityhearts.co.uk for more details.
